Recipe: Tasty Mango Pudding

I ordered a few mango puddings at different local restaurants before deciding to give it a try. Mango pudding is a very popular dessert in Hong Kong, where pudding is eaten as a traditional British food. There is very little variation between the regional mango pudding's preparation. Ingredients of Mango Pudding

  1. It’s 2 cups of ripe mango pieces.
  2. Prepare 1 cup of milk.
  3. It’s 1 pinch of cardamom powder.
  4. It’s 2 drops of vanila essence.
  5. Prepare 1/4 cup of sugar or as per taste.
  6. You need 7 gms of agar agar powder or strips.
  7. You need 3/4 cup of water.

The dessert is also found in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand. This rich and silky mango pudding is bursting with luscious mango flavor. Many refers both mango pudding and mango custard are the same. For me, the texture is different for both because different ingredient is used to set.

Mango Pudding instructions

  1. Collect all ingredients for pudding..
  2. Soak agar agar in 3/4 cup water for 10 minutes..
  3. Puree the ripe mango pieces and one fourth of the milk to a smooth puree in a blender..
  4. Remove to a bowl and set aside..
  5. Place the agar agar along with the water on low heat and keep stirring till agar agar is completely dissolved..
  6. Bring the milk to a boil, add sugar..
  7. Add cardamom powder and simmer on low flame for 3-4 mins..
  8. Add the agar agar mixture and keep stirring on low flame for 4 mins..
  9. Turn off heat and allow to slightly cool but should be warm..
  10. Add the mango puree to the agar agar mixture and mix well..
  11. Pour the mixture into serving bowls..
  12. Allow to set at room temperature and cover with plastic wrap..
  13. Place in the fridge for at least 3 to 4 hours..
  14. At the time of serving garnish with mango pieces and serve chillied..
