How to Cook Appetizing Dates Laddus

Dates Laddus. These dates ladoos are so easy to make that I almost make these twice a week in small quantities to pack in my kids' snack box for their school. You can very much use your favorite nuts like walnuts, almonds, peanuts and pistachios. Even seeds like pumpkin seeds or sesame seeds too go well in them.

Ingredients of Dates Laddus

  1. Prepare 400 gm of pitted dates.
  2. Prepare 50 gm of Almonds.
  3. It’s 50 gm of cashews.
  4. You need 50 gm of walnuts.
  5. You need 25 gm of pistachios.
  6. It’s 20 gm of poppy seeds (2 tbsp).
  7. You need 25 gm of Dry Coconut slices.
  8. It’s 2 tbsp of ghee.
  9. It’s 5-6 of Cardamoms.
  10. You need 1 of nutmeg.

This recipe is similar to Dates and nuts roll I posted few years back. This recipe is for Date and Nut Ladoo, or Candy as we call them at home. For my grand kids they are like candy and they love it. Adapted from my friend Renu's recipe, when I tried this ladoo for the first time, I said WOW.

Dates Laddus step by step

  1. Remove seeds from dates.Add to blender jar and Grind into fine paste.Take out the paste in a bowl.Now heat 1 tbsp Ghee in a pan on LOW flame and Roast Almonds,cashews,pistawalnuts for 2-3 min till light brown.Take out in a Plate..
  2. In the same pan add 1 tbsp Ghee and add dates paste.Saute for 3_4 min till it becomes soft mixture.let it cool..
  3. In another pan dryroast Coconut slices till light brown.Take out in a Plate.In the same pan add poppy seeds and Dry Roast for 1-2 min.Add Roasted nuts to dates paste.Also add Coconut slices,Cardamom powder and nutmeg powder.Mix with hand thoroughly..
  4. Dates laddu mixture is ready.Make Balls..
  5. In a Plate spread Roasted poppy seeds and coat all laddus with poppy seeds..
  6. Keep these laddus in fridge to set..

I could not believe the main ingredient was only dates. That surprised me because I am not very fond of dates. This was the first time I have tasted date ladoos flavored. It is easy and simple to make without cooking. A healthy snack for kids: Dates is a healthy fruit loaded with vitamins, minerals, calcium and fiber.
