Aviyal is a unique traditional dish of kerala (South India) and no kerala feast (sadya) is complete without aviyal. It is famous for its special flavors and it is a thick mixture of different vegetables,curd. A simple Webapp to share details on popular dishes of a place. Ingredients of Aviyal

  1. It’s 1 cup of coconut scrapping.
  2. Prepare 2 of green chillies.
  3. Prepare 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  4. Prepare 3/4 tsp of cumin seeds.
  5. You need 1 cup of water.
  6. You need 400 gm of Deskined and cubed vegetables (carrot, brinjal,beans,yam,drumstick,pumpkin,etc).
  7. It’s to taste of Salt.
  8. It’s 6-7 of curry leaves.
  9. It’s 1/2 cup of curd.
  10. Prepare 3-4 pieces of raw mango.

Oh! and aviyal is a kerela delicacy. Adai Aviyal is one of the famous tamil traditional protein rich breakfast dish. Rice and dal based crispy Adai is served with veggies flavored with Coconut. Adai Aviyal. a Healthy South Indian Breakfast!

Aviyal instructions

  1. Grind coconut to form paste. Add green chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric into coarse mass (add water only if needed need).
  2. Place the pan on flame. Add 1/4 cup of water. Add yam, drumstick to it. Let them boil for 7-8 minutes..
  3. Add all other vegetables(except raw mango) with another 1/4 cup of water..
  4. Spread the coconut mixture on the top. Add salt, curry leaves to it. Close the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Occasionally stir with back of the spoon. Don't break the vegetables..
  6. Once the vegetables are 3/4 cooked, add 3-4 pieces of raw mangoes and cook for 3-5 minutes till water is almost drained still not dry..
  7. Remove from flame and add 1/2 cup whisked curd. Stir it gently and transfer it to serving bowl.
  8. It can be served with rice,idli, dosa..
