Ingredients of Masala Avial

  1. It’s 1 cups of Vegetables – cut into medium thick long slices.
  2. Prepare 1/4 cup of Kadala channa / – cooked  -.
  3. It’s 3. handfull of Cashewnut (soaked in water for 10 mints) -.
  4. You need 1 of Tomato small -.
  5. You need 1 of Onion small – sliced.
  6. You need 1/4 cup of coconut Grated -.
  7. You need 1/2 tspn of Fennelseeds -.
  8. It’s 1 tspns of Red chilli powder -.
  9. You need 1/2 tspn of Coriander powder -.
  10. Prepare 1/4 of Turmeric powder – tpsn.
  11. It’s 1/4 tspn of Garam masala powder -.
  12. It’s of Salt.
  13. It’s of Coconut Oil.
  14. You need of Curry leaves.

Masala Avial step by step

  1. Heat oil in a pan.Add curry leaves.Then add sliced onion, vegetables,cooked channa/kadala and cashewnuts.Sprinkle little salt and saute well.Now simmer the flame,cover and cook..
  2. When the vegetables are half cooked,add the tomato,mix well,again cover and cook in low flame..
  3. Meanwhile,add the grated coconut,fennel seeds.red chilli powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder and garam masala to blender..
  4. Add little water and grind to a coarse paste..
  5. When the vegetables are cooked well,add the masala paste to it.Saute for few seconds.Now add 1/4 cup water to it.Now saute continuously till the water dries up..
  6. Finally,drizzle 1 tspn coconut oil on top.Mix well and remove from fire.this tastes really good with steamed basmati rice..
